There isn't always just one "right" angle for food...

Tamales.

The shot directly above is my favorite for this dish but we routinely try out as many angles and croppings as we can in order to give our art directors and our clients a choice of images for a range of uses.

I want to eat them one at a time, please.

Thankfully there are multiple angles. If there were only one perfect angle people would be lining-up at Kelby Training to learn all the "Pro Perfect Angles" 8-) Complete with lighting diagrams 8-) With this training, and a nice camera, anyone could be a pro 8-0

Do you get to eat any of the food or is that not appropriate? Very curious what's the etiquette for these things.

Wataru, Once the food "goes cold" (meaning it's lost its sheen) and is replaced by a new dish we put the previous dish on a nearby table and everyone who wants to can sample it and (mostly in the case of young, hungry assistants) eat as much as they please. We never use toxi solutions in the styling so the food is never made inedible. As long as everyone gets their job done eating the props is one of the perks.

What about old, not so good looking, yet still hungry assistants?
